FSP Spotlight: Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict

Formed by a group of leading human rights and humanitarian organizations in response to the need for improved monitoring and reporting on violations against children in war, Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict strives to end violations against children in armed conflicts and guarantee their rights. The Watchlist, a fiscally sponsored program of United Charitable, builds partnerships among local, national, and international nongovernmental organizations, enhancing mutual capacities and strengths. Working together, they collect and disseminate information on violations against children in conflicts to influence key decision-makers to create and implement programs and policies that effectively protect children.

Watchlist is known for its work on children and human rights, boasting – through its members – both solid expertise on child protection and a wealth of information and experiences coming directly from the ground. Watchlist membership includes, but is not limited to, Amnesty International, World Vision, Child Fund Alliance, Child Rights International Network, Human Rights Watch, and more.

Over 25 reports based on research conducted by Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict staff have been published. These reports highlight how children, families, and communities are affected by armed conflict. Additionally, these reports draw the attention of policy members who can leverage the information to make recommendations that will help address the complex challenges of protecting children.
